Now that is where you are mistaken- after my original post I bought 2 bags of frozen peas from Sainsburys. I'm glad I went with a £1.50 pack of peas than a £80 SSD, at least I can eat the peas, and put tomato sauce on them- tomato sauce makes everything better.

So over there you're getting 3.8 litres for £1.30- that's 34p a litre. In the UK, it's currently £1.10 a litre in the UK for regular diesel. So for me to buy a U.S gallon, it'd cost me £4.18- that's $6.45 a US gallon- over 3X more...
Over here it isn't really used- other than as a known american word. It can mean Hot Dog, small sausage, or penis and that's about it, but nobody uses it because most people presume the latter and are embarrassed to use it when asking for a hot dog. I'm not sure I could translate everything but...
