Burned a tank on the Reds Scuderia 721 8XT today. Finally feeling I got a handle of that Reds engine after sealing up the backplate and carburetor down.
Burned a gallon between my truggy and buggy yesterday.
Expensive day - went through two sets of new tires, a gallon of fuel, and a set of those legendary TLR hinge pins that like to bend! Maybe I'll do it again tomorrow :stig::stig::stig::stig:
Switched to Bones 30% nitro/8% oil to 25% nitro/8% oil. Not much difference performance wise to my amateur eyes but was able to tune the low end/idle much easier.
Now I'm off of work for a while I hope to go through the whole case soon! :D :D :D
Did my first club race with my Truggy at a-Main. Qualifying went well but an axle set screw decided to throw legs and roll away during the main.
I'll check the thread locker more often next time.
Ran my Protek-Samurai R03 8ightX Elite in the yard for a few tanks to tinker and tune. Then I gave her a bath. Now we wait for club racing to begin at my "home track."
These OS-based engines under the Protek flag are pretty solid. I'd rather run my Italian engines but there seems to be a...
So a particular company from Italy seems to be having trouble getting carburetor parts to North America, so I had to get a Japanese engine. This is her second heat cycle.
I have a feeling it might be too much for the buggy, and will have to go into the truggy.
You guys know I'm new to racing. Met some more experienced racers and good to know that the 1/8 scale nitro race culture is pretty chill.
Burned about half a gallon at the track today. Worked on brake settings for a tight little track.
Slowly but surely getting faster laps (does that make...
I want to thank Uncle Joe for letting me buy a TLR 8XT and a REDS Scuderia 721 Gen 2.
First/Second Start. Break In Tank 1
Edit: Yes, I know. It started lean. I fattened it up after the video ended. :)
It will be fun as long as you don't expect to be like the super fast guys you see on the YouTube.
The other guys at the track have been super helpful and supportive about setup and driving technique even though I've caused a few wrecks already.
Got to burn a few quarts yesterday at the track.
A lot of power in this Scuderia Gen 2... I wish my driving skill would allow for me to use all that power. :D
Little test and tune for the TLR 8ight X Elite today. Getting a few gremlins out like the rear CVA's that need to break in and such.
I request a moment of silence for the plastic steering servo horn. Barely last a week.
Did a few heat cycles with low-mid throttle on the REDS 721/8ight X Elite. Nothing cool to show you guys.
I do have to vouch for the Bones Brew break-in fuel. It got the temps up just right. I didn't feel like I had to fight it with a hot air gun while it idled, even though it wasn't exactly...
Breaking in this Reds 721 Gen 2.
First racing engine. Boy is this thing tight. Didn't help since the sun was coming down quickly and it was windy.
Can't wait for its cajones to drop. Looks like this one will be a ripper.
