Camden took a cool pic, showing the 1:1 behind the 1:8! I also got his "spare" done, just had to paint up another main body section which took very little time. Not too bad for a beater body. And I still have an entire spare body of my own for my personal backup.

Father of Dragons(Bakugan Dragonoid monster truck replica)

Spent some time on my Dragonoids. I've got a customer to build a body for, err make that two. It's tedious work, but it's Winter and I've got a ton of free time. For mine, I tore the engine down to inspect, cleaned it up and re-assembled. I broke out my Dremel and put on a buffer tool and...

Replaced the Firestorms with RC4WD B&H tires, these things look like some SERIOUS earth eaters! I also put 10k wt oil in the diffs. Working on the Dragonoid Fire now doing the same mods. Adding these tires added about 1/4 lb or so over the Firestorms - the sidewalls are roughly the same...

Took em both out for a bit of testing, and getting my track layout tweaked. Ice Dragonoid really jumped much better with the improved suspension, but those Firestorms, uh, they gotsta go!! Truck was insanely squirrelly and impossible to control. Fire Dragonoid was super dialed in, cornered...

They are built from Kyosho Mad Crushers. The Fire has almost no stock parts at all - the frame, pretty much everything all custom CF and aluminum. The Ice version is using more stock parts (basically the leftovers), but has modified suspension and steering and drivetrain. Both are very...

Got the lighting finished. Added a flag :) Those shocks leak like hell. In fact they are horrendous. Soooo. Going to use some of the leftover internal spring skinny shocks I had from the Fire version, and put oil in those with no springs to use as dampeners. Put a flag on the Fire as...

Other than the lighting, this one is done :) Need to put some heavier shock oil in as well, it's a little too springy with 32wt. Fire and Ice...Ying and Yang....

The driver of the truck, Camden Murphy has seen it, and I actually made him one. Not sure if he ever got around to buying an RC truck to put it on though.

Freshly painted, window masks still on, no horn yet (it will be silver), should be wrapping this thing up pretty soon! Have some decals and stuff yet to do as well. A little hard to tell from the photo, but the wing meshes and claws are a chrome.

Body assembled and fitted. Tail mount and cage insert getting printed as I type. Next will mask it, paint it in a light blue/dark blue/silver/white scheme.

Finished up the steering! This *really* works well, what a huge improvement. I was able to dial back the amount of rear steer and the truck was much easier to track, but still had big cornering ability compared to non rear steer. One day I'll likely add a second servo and use a pot to...

Father of Dragons(Bakugan Dragonoid monster truck replica)

I scrambled to finish my second Dragonoid before the race this past weekend at the Versus Monster Trucks show in East Waterford, PA, and got it done so that I could enter the "twins". This also meant that I had zero time to get any practice in, and dial in either truck, or test the new one much...

My "practice" truck is nearly there :) Just waiting on one more gear and drive cup, and it should be ready to run. For the moment it's configured a little differently, and also because it's center of gravity is higher, it's going to handle differently for sure. But, that was kind of the idea...

Figured out my 3018, and cut the CF link mounts. The collars I 3D printed, I do have some aluminum, but I'm scared, I think that it's better to send them off to be milled if I want them aluminum. For now the 3d printed collars are quite strong, I cannot see these breaking. Anyway, I love...

Too bad you're all the way in AZ, we could drop some cash on that bet :D

On another note, with all of these changes, I weighed the truck - it's at 13.5 lbs, which for what it is, I think is pretty light. I also noted that the Renegades gave me vastly better traction than the Firestorms on a loose, but somewhat sticky dirt track. Any stickier of a track, and I'd...

While practicing for the local event (and not even sure this would be the truck I would run, as it's more of a Revo/TMaxx/Savage suited course), had a pretty catastrophic wreck. At about 30 mph or so, hit a major bump that make the rear kick up, and sent it cartwheeling like one of those bad...

Thanks man! I keep thinking it's done. It's never done. I'm hoping to get the link mounts done soon, right now trying to get my 3d printer to work correctly with ABS test collar pieces, but keeps messing up. Going to eventually farm them out to get CNC'd, but it's 260 dollars for the four of...

My aversion for plastic continues...as I decided to make a CF wheelie bar, was not a fan of the flimsy plastic stock one, especially given my swaybar is routed through and supported by it, there was quite a bit of flex going on there. I also decided to go the route of incorporating the shock...

The body post project is finished, and I think it'll work out pretty good! It definitely absorbs a good bit of the shock, we'll see how well it holds up in real-time this weekend. This body has held up with only some scuffing and torn rubber horns, despite landing on it's lid numerous times...
