Actually ,all the crud caked on ,doesn't allow the dirt & sand to work in the bearings ,todays bearings have a rubber seal on them ,the bearings in the 80's & 90's just had a metal shield! My mgt basher hasn't been washed in 5 years ,an its still rocks & rolls!...:p
