Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Taking advantage of a lull in RC wrenching, hung my two banners in the shop. Been on the to-do list long enough. Check off - done.

Wow, requiem33. All that connector soldering, you'll never have to prove your courage in any other way. Kudos. Something I need to do here but keep putting off. Like many others in RC, I've probably got an adapter for every RC connector ever made. . .

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Scaled out the Senton 2S for 66ft drag racing runs tomorrow. Footprint side to side at 25g is close enough for me. Managed to grab another percentage point of RR weight. JC Dotek tires are a bit heavier than the P-L Icons. And switched the battery in the tray putting the power leads (and...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

With the IndyCar Thermal Challenge on b/c TV today, got an early start in the shop with a quickie. Weight jacking on the DragSpec Rusty to even out weight on the RR wheels. At last! A 5-minute job that only took 5-minutes!

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

@Willy0942 Willy, that stand you made in the first photo is from Erector Set parts? Is that correct? My gosh, haven't seen those pieces since the set I had in the 1950s. Is it from a complete set? How cool that is for a display stand. Two thumbs up, twice. :thumbs-up::thumbs-up...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Busy work yesterday while listening to Indy NXT and NTT quals. Added a pair of bang bars to each side of the MT10. RPM HD Rustler camber links held in place by TRX Rustler shoulder screws and Serpent M3 nylon flange nuts. Turned out o.k. More for bling than protection. And then vented a set...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Thanks, guys. Yeah, David. Built my own drag racing chassis back then. They were a bit unique. Both full-prep electric top fuel class. Brush motors and 8-cell NiMh soldered-up matched loose cell battery packs. Fellow racer C-N-Cd the RR motor/axle mounts. Fabricated my own 6061 axles from...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Spent the morning dragging ( no pun intended  ) these out of the attic. Been a while since they've been on the bench, or even seen the light of day for that matter. Blue car is my 26" long-wheelbase R4E switchblade chassis, circa 2009-2010. May (or may not) proceed with a no-prep...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Nice work on the motor wires. What is your trick to maintaining the 90deg bend? Makes for a tidy install where space is tight on 1/10 mid-motor chassis.

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Shortened the right side swing arm and got a test fit with the bearing hub in place. Comes next the left side swing arm. Then to shorten the already shortened half-shafts even more. And the beat goes on. . . Was up in the attic looking at the dragster chassis. Yet to bring it down until...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Dunno. Kinda sorta working up a project back-fitting a TRX steel gear tranny conversion for one of my legacy full-prep dragsters. Thought is to convert it to no-prep. See how it comes together. So far 32p gears and a 10.5/4000Kv sensored mule for power. Building from the center out...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

No worries here mounting a transponder. Don't need one. My drag series sets bracket dial in using GNSS mph readings. Frees me up from the expense of a timing system. Tranny's in. HD drive shafts were running too close to the RPM camber links to suit me. Fabricated a 1/16in piece of G-10...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

A work in progress. Upgrading the Rustler basher to full DragSpec for the 33ft series. TRX Magnum 272R ready for fitting upper HD half-shafts prior to chassis install. 'AC'

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Scored the '248' number plate from a 360 Bultaco Pursang MX bike yesterday. Visiting with John at the shop where he restores H-D lightweights. He used to ride them in the 60s - as did I. Anyway, upon departing he offered up the number plate for me to hang in the RC shop. Which I promptly did.

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Ha. Funny. Had to google Ricky Bobby, not familiar with him or his org. Right away his driver suit put me in mind of racing legend Don Schumacher's Wonder Wagons of times past. Weird. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Good seeing the old Wonder logo lives on. Yeah...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Thanks, Chu. Heads up on the STRC 14mil's. Latest set, this set, one of the hexes measured 14.5mm across flats. Real tight fitting the wheel. Thought it was a bad wheel until I got to measuring. Anyway, only need two of the four for Rusty's application. Later, I'll dress down the flats to...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Test fitting a pair of JConcepts Drag Wide's to the classic Rustler. Bloom and all. Venting, cleaning and gluing comes later. Once fit and fiddle is assured. Tires mounted of a pair of Arrma SC 14mm hex wheels using STRC 14mm AL hexes. Earlier in the week while waiting for the RR tire/wheel...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Re-installed the wheelie bar on the MT10. Used two TRX turnbuckles from the basher stash to extend the wheels closer to the road surface. MT10 pulled the front wheels couple of runs on my RC 33ft Street Legal Dragstrip. Better safe than sorry. side note: P-L Trenchers hook up well on...

Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Put it off long enough. Been a couple of years wanting to do this. Decided to do a resto on my 2009-2011 R4E switchblade wedge dragster. 140degF in the attic. Too hot to go up there to retrieve it. That'll wait until early tomorrow morning. Meantime pulled its original 3PM-FM transmitter...
