I wouldn't want her to stay dependent on nicotine, but there are some that are just flavored, aren't there? The nicotine craving would be out of her and now it's just the habit of the mechanical movements. If she keeps that up, she might go back to doing it with cigarettes.
It's over 10 years...
@Rooky78 thoughts and prayers going out for your granny. A broken hip is tough to deal with at that age.
One of the reasons my friend is in rehab is because she's weak from being in a power chair. She shattered her femur falling on ice last winter and is held together with plates and pins.
I just got back from visiting her. Yesterday she had the trache tube changed to a smaller one to wean her off oxygen and she's now able to speak. She's been moved to another hospital for rehab to get her up and walking around, again. She's completely upbeat and today she complained about the...
I always thought they were really stupid, but if you can use them to quit cigarettes, I'm fully in favor. I'll suggest it if she thinks she'll continue smoking.
Weren't you one of the first members here to quit smoking via the "Rolex method"?
I was given a pin number so they would even give me...
Remind me to steer clear of that hospital if I ever need help. The only really upbeat and friendly person I've spoken to there is the cashier in the coffee shop. It seems no one wants to be bothered by visitors wanting updates. They almost seem annoyed if you ask. That's not just my opinion...

When she was deeply sedated and in the ICU with tubes in her nose and down her throat into...
Not thread jacking, at all. That's the beauty of this forum, we feel like family. Things like this go a long way to cement our friendships. It's amazing what's been discussed here through the years. Lots of illness and family losses when just a little extra prayer or comfort is needed and...
It was Pneumococcal Pneumonia, followed by a severe bacterial infection through her whole body. I saw her go through severe teeth chattering chills one afternoon and the next day she was fine. 2 days after that she was really sick. The intense chills are the first symptom, from what I've...
Well, it's been more than a week. On the bright side, I've saved a friend's life. It's probably about a week and a half ago I called a friend and when she didn't answer I called her cell phone. She ALWAYS has it with her and answers.
When I didn't get a response I went to her apartment and...
