Internal shock limiters are for decreasing droop, not ride height. The front can benefit from 1–2 mm limiters inside the shock to decrease sudden oversteer mid-corner. Lowering the truck is much easier, just turn the spring nuts on the shock bodies.

That’s reasonable. I think the Tenacity falls nicely in between because it has the cost of a race kit but comes ready to run. I also would like to see kit versions of RTR cars. Maybe they are too much of a niche after all? Casual buyers want RTR and serious hobbyists go for race kits? I don’t...

Yeah people want stuff to be cheap. And then they ask which motor/esc combo and aluminium shocks they should buy as ”must have” upgrades. I managed to get much better performance from the stock shocks with slightly oversized pistons. The stock ones let quite a bit of oil past the edges and it...

The improvements you get are easily worth the 160-dollar difference. The Tenacity comes with a programmable 130A ESC, aluminium shocks, and aluminium shock towers. Not to mention it has a flat aluminium chassis with a low center of gravity. You can pitch one against actual race trucks like a...

Sadly, the Losi Tenacity TT Pro fills that niche much better. It’s a basher you can race or racer you can bash. Make an LCG chassis kit for the Pro4 and we’re talking race-capable truck. As it is, no amount of tuning and upgrading lifts it out of the class where it’s competitive against...

I got the pills and they are in use. The adjustment effects and range are the same as on any truck: a couple of degrees. The pills shift the ends of the hinge pin less than a millimeter. The anti-squat mod raises the front ends by 3 mm. The mod is a coarse move to get you in the range, pills...

That’s odd. My Pro4 weighs a bit over 2.7 kg or 6 lbs with the body and battery, all ready to go. My batteries are 5000 mAh but that shouldn’t make a difference.

I just got mine and installed a couple to try them out. Perfect fit! I put a circular piece of foam around the center drive shaft to prevent sand ingress into the spur and pinion gears. Also ”painted” the edges of the rear skid plate and the two covers on top of the diff housing with...

I think this is what they call a bingo! Thanks a ton! I’ll order a set of these. Even if the fit is too tight for a direct fit, there certainly is less material to remove.

The Tekno EB410 used 3 mm pins before they updated to 3.5 mm pins. The spare pills TKR6544 are for the older model so 3 mm pins should fit. The only question is if the external dimensions are smaller as well.

I’ve looked into various shocks and would like at least 12–13 mm pistons but manufacturers are lazy to provide this kind of info. They just say ”big bore” which could mean anything. I have bought Absima 1:8 shocks to try them out and found so far that the springs and spring caps are too large...

I wonder if there’s an older vehicle that uses 3 mm hinge pins and a pill adjustment system. It could be a different brand. I’d look at Losi, TLR, or Helion parts. The truck isn’t an AE design but a rebranded Helion and not meant for racing, so I guess that’s why the support for option parts...

Sounds like you’re making progress and having fun! I haven’t managed to go driving for a few days (I have a 7 mo baby to take care of) but I have held back and not touched any settings before I try out the effect of longer links. If that doesn’t work for me, adding some Ackermann angle should...

Lifting the inside front wheel in corners is exactly what the real stadium super trucks do so it’s ”scale” and neat, but definitely not something you want from a racing point of view. I’m in the process of setting up mine so I guess we’re in the same boat, of course we’re different drivers on...

Yes, pills in the D-block moving the pin ends down would reduce the pro-squat a bit but the difference will be small as these are rather wide arms; the pills are further apart. What brands are the pills, by the way? I’d be glad to have some adjustment possibilities but the regular AE pills for...

I spy bleeder screws on the shock caps, that’s something mine doesn’t have. The sway bars look bright and thick, possibly home-made from piano wire. The stock ones are black and 2.0 mm thick. These things are tail-happy out of the box already. It’s the stiff rear springs and pro-squat...

I second the recommendation of 15 kg-cm / 200 oz-in torque as a lower limit, and no need to go much below 0.1 seconds. Get a servo that meets these values at 6 Volts and you avoid the hassle of HV electronics.

In that case, try holding back with the changes and apply them one at a time. If you adjust many things at the same time, it’ll be impossible to know which one was for the better or worse. The exception is an adjustment that should be coupled with something else to maintain balance. The setup...

Negative camber helps clear bumps, you are correct. I meant something else: When you choose another mounting hole for either end of the link, you extend or shorten the link with the turnbuckle to compensate. So your static camber remains the same, just the link length, height, or angle is...

I have posted a couple of how-tos in that section of the forum: how to support the steering pillars to reduce flex in the steering, and how to correct the pro-squat orientation of the rear arms into anti-squat that we all use on other off-road vehicles. Both of these are easy to do, reversible...
