DR10 1967 Mustang no prep build

Thanks the street is just a big slab of concrete. Before it had two lanes and a turn lane in the center. Now it will have two lanes with bicycle lanes at the side. It will all get separated with paint lines. But that’s after they replace the rest of the road and sidewalks. The car has been a...

DR10 1967 Mustang no prep build

The day finally arrived!! They have been replacing my street for the last year or so and I have a serious test pad out front I could not pass up. I dusted off the mustang charged the batteries and warmed the tires. The front street is two lanes with bike lanes so very wide and closes off for a...

So Associated just released the DR10m for mid motor. I am hoping my Mustang here is not obsolete before I get to run it.

Oooo the temps are going up. I can almost smell the nitro in the air. Drag racing time is almost here. I got the latest piece of my drag racing puzzle. The traxxas start light. Super simple, you push the button on top to start a yellow light blinking. When the yellow light stops blinking and...

DR10 1967 Mustang no prep build

The final parts arrived today. On the one hand the build has been a blast. And I’m sad that it’s done. But I do have enough stuff left over to start on a back up car. And really the fun is just beginning. Now I get to spend many weekend mornings doing test hits at regular places and looking for...

I had to do a late night in the shop. The capacitor for this is bigger than some battery packs. And the wires are short and thick so I really don’t have a lot of choice about it’s location. It’s more about how do I mount it. There are two strap openings, but the forward location was to far...

DR10 1967 Mustang no prep build

I got the lower control arms in and assembled the rear suspension. I did have to sand the anodizing off one side of a rear hub. Other than that it went together and moves very smooth. Like a 60 mph Swiss watch. I put it on my suspension plate with just the rear and it is nice and straight with...

Couple little things tonight. I soldered in a 3 cell capacitor. And I got a front suspension brace. It’s brass, not looking to weight the front but it’s not a bad place for it I guess.

It all fits together perfectly. I forgot the top body mounts are Intigy. That’s four manufacturers and it is all like solid and everything is lined up and tight. A couple more parts next week and it should be rolling again.

I got the Ecotek transmission case and a bag of Fast Eddie bearings today. The bearings are the regular sealed bearing a and are always better than the factory ones that come with a kit. The transmission is a thing of beauty. And with all metal gears and a carbon fiber motor plate it should...

    This is some bling.

I got the Exotek C block that holds the front of the rear lower control arms. It has special inserts that allow you to adjust the rear toe. They look great and snap into the Dragrace Concepts rear chassis. But the screw hole is to small. I reamed the hole and used a cap head screw and it...

OMG 😱 This slipper clutch from Revolution Design is art. 12 pieces and it’s super smooth. I can slip it with my fingers and turn the nut just a bit and feel it get a little tighter. Very adjustable. I am going to order new clutch plates I suspect the learning curve will be steep. I will...

DR10 1967 Mustang no prep build

I got the exotek all metal diff and gears. All aluminum with hard anodizing. I don’t think I’m gonna break them. Watching John Shultz of Element RC he said the 500,000 weight diff oil is for high traction situations. And he suggests something like 200,000 weight. Since I’m just going to be...

I found the solution to the rear toe. In the stock form there is 3 deg of rear toe, according to my toe gauge. Exotek sells a C block with adjustable insert's. This allows each side to be adjusted from 0 to 3 deg.

I think I have all the parts decisions and suspension geometry work out. Now I need to replace the plastic gears in the trans with metal. The plastic will be perfect for a lower power or sand dragster. I also want to change the rear toe to something less than 6 deg it currently has. Not sure...

Actually my next build is going to be wild. An LCG crawler with Capra Axles and a pulled pro. It’s called a G-Shot.

Ya I was just reading that. I was thinking it would be cute next to the Mustang.

Thanks I thought they made that Pinto for no prep. O well, I like the Chevy 2 body also.

DR10 1967 Mustang no prep build

It’s New Year’s Eve and I’m sitting at work thinking about my no prep car. Basically I have replaced the entire DR10 with aftermarket parts. Just some plastic suspension parts and shocks and I will have replaced it all. So I’m left with a complete DR10 roller. What should I build from it...
