    New RC what to do

As long as there are a lot of pics can make up our own narrative in the event that the thread lacks one of its own :hehe:

Make sure you start a build thread in the RC Garage forum. Then we can not only be entertained but then you can get your Build Thread Contributor badge too :)

Plus I think he already ordered the kit cuz he wanted something he could build from the ground up.

That delivery date isnt a prime delivery. Id be calling them and asking them WTF?! lol. There are vendors on amazon that ship from China which is what that delivery date would be.

I believe he just meant order the appropriate sized balance extensions for your packs that you are using. At least thats what I meant. :)

    New RC what to do

LiPos can be a serious problem if one of them ever goes in to thermal runaway on you but they are generally safe to use given proper use. 99.9% of the time a LiPo will only become a problem if its overcharged. Sometimes they can fail during discharge too but thats typically when you have 1 cell...

    New RC what to do

If your plan on doing any competitive racing order the futaba. If not then save the $100 and get the Flysky imo I get that. Just make sure those 6000-8000mAh lipos will fit in your battery tray. Those are going to be large batteries. Well the 8000 will be 6000 may or may not be.

You are off to an awesome start! The GT5 is a good budget radio but the Futaba is a higher quality Radio. Up to you on which one youd rather use. :) Given the two places you are trying to source LiPos from, Id either buy the Gens_Ace Adventure brand from your LHS or buy CNHL or HRB off of Amazon.

You may want to take a look at this video. Its kind of a tips and tricks for soldering but I also demonstrate how I solder Deans connectors so that you dont damage them.

Ahhh yeah, The 1/10 scale will be just fine too :) If you're referring to the Deans connectors get the 10-12. I wouldnt go any smaller than 12AWG wire for 1/10 scale electronics personally. Do you have experience soldering?

    New RC what to do

Just so you know AC, all of the newer Deans connectors made in the last year are made out of the newer high temp plastic. They come in white and black versions according to Robin, the guy that owns the Deans company. He even sent me pics of two big bins of white and black Deans but the only...

    New RC what to do

Really the only main difference between a truggy and a buggy is truggies have bigger tires, wider stance, and sometimes a little bit beefier suspension. Buggies are great at taking abuse. IMO, probably more durable than any other kit type. If you're running on a bmx track (even a small one) Id...

    New RC what to do

NP man, glad to help. I will just quickly add that I dont run a lot of 1/10 scale buggies and truggies so I'm taking an educated guess based on other 1/10 scale off road kits that I have. 1/10 scale truggies arent very common in the first place due to a lack of race class for them at a lot of...

    New RC what to do

I'm not saying you can't run a 5.5T but Teknos website lists the recommended turn rating at 6.5, 7.5, and 8.5. 8.5T & 9.5T are probably what Id go with since I wouldnt be looking to do any competitive racing with it. It will be plenty fast, it wont run as hot so the motor will last longer. If you...

    New RC what to do

Lower the T (turn rating) the higher the RPMs per volt which means faster but at some point you're going to run in to overheating issues once your Turn rating gets to low. The higher the RPM (or kV rating in 4 pole motors) the faster it is but the faster it is the less torque it will have. The...

    New RC what to do

5.5T is too high of a kV rating. 6.5T is the highest that Teknos website suggests for that kit. Again I think that 6.5T is just to low of a turn rating. I think 8.5T or 9.5T would be a better bet but thats just me.

    New RC what to do

My first thought is, if you're planning on racing your son you guys are going to be racing two fairly different kits. If that doesn't matter to you then no biggie. Next thought is on the Spektrum servo. Firstly, I dont believe Spektrum in general makes very good electronics with the exception of...

    New RC what to do

If you're going to buy a high quality Tekin Motor Id run it with a Tekin RX8 ESC instead of a midrange Hobbywing ESC. Also I would opt for a Savox or Hitec Servo instead but thats just me. Losi SCTs are race quality also.

    New RC what to do

Welcome to RCT! :welcome_sign: Not much to add to what these two guys said. 1/10 scale SCT, 1/10 & 1/8 scale Buggy are some of the more popular race classes so even if you dont want to go with the Tekno 410.3 You could get something else from Tekno, Losi, Kyosho, Associated, Xray, or Serpent...
