Today I added a set of longer trailing rear links to give the FCX24 Powerwagon a little more stability when climbing.
Here you can see the difference in length.
It did help a bit, it also helped keep it more stable when at high speeds, these things move pretty fast in high gear.
I think the motor it comes with is fast enough, unless I was going to convert one into a street car. Let us know how you like it. Sometimes these things surprise me.
I like the military body, if only because it stands out a little more, in the fact that everyone else doesn't have one. It does look a hair under scaled but not enough to bother me much. See if the bed makes a difference.
@Bunnspeed I'm really curious to see you finish what you started, it seems to be going very well. On the other hand I understand just wanting to get it back together and play. The only solution is obvious, you need to pick up a second one. 🤣
I know you can reverse the steering with the controller, I believe you can reverse the forward backward also, but don't have my controller in front of me.
I try to only tear apart one in each scale at a time but it never really works out that way. At least I have enough SCX24's to play with if I have one or two down. Trying to justify another FCX24 right now but need to save a few more pennies first. Mrs. Doom has some medical bills that are going...
The red stock wheels are really tall. The only tires that fit are the ones it came with. Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet. They won't fit on anything with a closed body. They do give you increased ground clearance but with a slight cg penalty.
Not sure where to order spare axle assemblies short of ordering a whole rig. They must be available somewhere. I couldn't find anything on the FMS website. All the spares seemed to be body related.
I did pick up a set of the New Injora tires for my FCX24. The new rubber compound they are using...
Going to be a real challenge getting the two systems to mesh. I think you might do better to get the suspension from the fms unimog or atlas, if you want to go without portals.
Ok, some comparisons for you guys. Here is the Fcx24 next to my 1/18 FJ. I'm calling the FCX24 1/18 scale in my book.
Here it is with the Hoplex bead lock wheel on the rear and the Axial Deadbolt wheel on the front.
I ended up pulling the wheels off of the FJ and putting them on the FCX24. I...
Just noticed some custom bits already showing up on Ebay for the FCX24, I just ordered a High Clearance Bumper and Grill Guard should arrive around the 11th.
