Hi! So I recently fixed up and started running the RC10B2 Sport I built and raced as a kid. Took it to a track for the first time yesterday and had an absolute blast! Got me wanting to get back into racing. Well today I went to a swap meet at my LHS and someone was selling an Associated RC10 B44.3 Roller with an extra chassis and a bunch of random spare parts. It was $60 for the roller, $20 for the motor and $60 for the ESC. I'd always wanted to try a 1/10 awd as a kid so I bought it and some parts on a whim. I don't know if its 100% or complete, i plan on doing a full tear down, clean and rebuild so I can actually understand this thing. I was hoping to get confirmation that it is indeed a B44.3 if someone can tell by looks alone so i start in the right direction. I also wanted to ask if the motor and ESC they also sold me are good, I haven't been in the loop in RC since the 90s so I have to learn all the basics with the modern electronics. The motor should be easy enough to find info on, the ESC other then being an LRP flow doesn't have an obvious part number on it and a google search makes me think maybe there are multiple versions? Anyway any and all help is appreciated!

Thanks I will ready those over! Provided both the motor and speed control work with no problems would you say they were a good find? Any servo recommendations, what kind of speed and oz rating is appropriate for an awd buggy?

Servo's have improved a lot over the past 10 years. I'm not sure what a typical buggy would "need" to be competitive. I bash only and mostly run big heavy MT's. Would assume something with 200oz or more torque and less than .15sec transit time at 6V, or you can run a BEC at a higher voltage for some of the newer servos. They have been really leveraging the higher volts lipo puts out, but in many cases, you have to fiddle with the wiring and run the receiver off the esc at 6V to avoid cooking it, but run power to the servo at 7V+ to leverage the capabilities. You do that by unplugging the two power leads from the receiver plug on the servo and running them in a separate connector to a BEC at a higher voltage with only the signal wire going to the receiver. Too complicated for me. LOL! Some receivers can handle higher V though now too, so that simplifies it some.

I just run with my esc putting out 6V if possible as I don't run massive torque or really high performance stuff. I had to use a BEC on one of my trucks because the output voltage of the esc was 5V max. Not sure why castle does that... 6V has been the norm for a long time.

Man things have gotten complicated since my B2s days. Lol I think I'll chat with the owner of my local track and see what he recommends. I want to keep this build as simple and cheap as possible.

Hey there saw your post I’m a Associated fan myself... looks like you got a good buy with the B44... looks to be a B44.3.... I have a couple along with a few B4s and B-T5M don’t know much about LRP I tend to use castle or reedy or hobby Wing products... but so you can get a idea here is a few pics of my B44.3 and B44.2 hope this helps..!
