I want to go racing next year. I wanted to go this year but to much going on to get serious.

This years season is winding down but I feel I need to at least go run around the track. So I can prep for next season. October 10 is the next race day and I’m going for it.
So this is my SCt410.3 build and race prep.

I checked around before I went techno. I wanted to get a good rig and the Techno is basically a1/8 scale basher. So making it a 1/10 scale racer is going to produce a very strong chassis.

I ordered a whole pile of aftermarket and hop up parts. I also scored an entire hardware package on EBay for ten bucks.

This is a top shelf build and no expense was spared. But that means I spent a couple months gather parts and doing research.

I wish you luck on the next season!

I have a question though. What did you mean by your comment "Techno is basically a1/8 scale basher."? The Tekno SCT410.3 is a 1/10 scale race kit so that part doesn't seem to make sense to me.

The suspension parts are directly taken from 1/8 scale bashers. The control arms are massive. The other components are totally over built. This is not the lightest build style but it is the strongest.
When I first thought about buying a race car. I was going to buy two kits. Just so I have extra parts. After doing research I found the SCT 410.3 is bullet proof. No one has anything to say bad about the build quality. I guess the idea is you have to finish the race to win.

the first thing I did was build the receiver box. The antenna has a tube you cut and mount for the antenna. The antenna gets pinched when you screw down the lid so I made a small space for the antenna to go freely. The box is needed because of all the dirt and the MyLAPS transponder mounts directly to the top.

Ahhhh, gotchya!

Who does not love building shocks? These puppies are massive. 16mm big bore shocks. There so nice with covers to keep dirt out of the shaft and help keep the springs from packing with mud.
They are built with a bladder or emulsion. I choose the diaphragm set up.

I also assemble the suspension links. Everything on this kit is massively over built compared to what I’m used to.

Tekno makes so good stuff thats for sure. I want to get one of their truggies one of these days. I see a lot of people bragging on the brand as a whole.

I love the way this this is designed. For instance the steering servo mounts to a metal plate that is screwed to the chassis. The steering all moved on metal parts with Fast Eddie ceramic bearings.

The ESC mounts to a plate that is sitting on rubber o rings for shock absorption

This is the hop up stuff I collected. Mostly metal parts to replace plastic and titanium to replace aluminum with a sprinkle of carbon fiber.

Also a set of ceramic bearings from Fast Eddie.

This thing has three differentials. The middle has very thick oil. And the rear is a little thinner then the front is even thinner. It’s crazy how much is going on here.

I replaced the plastic spider gear carrier with metal.

Got the differentials and the suspension together. Just amazed at how much different this is than a rock crawler. The flat chassis and working suspension is so well thought out. I can only imagine this comes from years of people racing and seeing what works and what does not.

The suspension is done. It just so cool. Everything is adjustable. I mean everything. The kit comes with set up instructions a d after reading a lot of internet chat. The set up is the best way to start.

Learning to drive is my weakness. So getting the truck as neutral as possible is my set up goal. Speed comes after smooth.
With the chassis completed it’s time to move on to electronics. I put some stuff in from a rock crawler but I want the real power. Going with a monster x and Tekin Pro4 motor.

This is a drop test. This thing lands like a wad of wet clay. The suspension really does work.

Got the race body painted. The body is a pretty important because not only does it provide down force, but has holes placed on top to allow air to escape when it goes over a jump. I watched cars really float just like a parachute without the cutouts.

Now that I have the proper electronics installed I can begin set up.

I made a suspension alignment plate. The tools are pretty cheap. I I’m think the best way to have a consistent rig is to measure and document the alignment.

Caster, camber and toe front and rear plus I have the corner weight scale for the spring loading. The set up is directly by the book. But the measurements are spot on.

Shes looks like a dream. I'm curious though why you went with a Tekin motor and a Castle ESC?

Looks like its a 4300kv motor Pat. Dunno about pinion tho.

For the pinion i have a set from 15-20 tooth. I put in the 17 for starters. I have so long to go before anything matters. I have a big old zero amount of experience driving one of these.

The short answer about the castle speed control is the Tekin was out of stock. But I really like Castle ESCs and am farmiliar with the data logging and set up. So I just went with a monsterX.
I got everything finished and just ran it around the yard.
Holly crap is about all I can say. It handles like it’s on rails . Must be hitting 60 mph and can break and steering like a dream.

I know this is going to be a shelf queen. I can’t race all winter. Plus I’m mostly into rock crawling. So I ordered another body just for show. I like the Raptor SCT body. But for the shelf or even just fun blasting, I put this body from McCalister.

Ahhh ok. I was just curious.

Love that McCalister body! Looks great!

Ya the McAllister body is awesome. I spotted on a different web page and just had to have it. Don’t want to use it for anything but fun. I just like looking at it.
I am very pleased with the paint job. I am not good at that stuff. But I did get the silver trim line in and it does not look terrible.
