How good is the traxxas 3.3 motor?

All really depends on the type of racing/bashing you're into.

I'll have to disagree with the idea that the Traxxas 3.3 is a good engine. It's ok, but many are better. Carbs are notoriously finnicky, and the connecting rods known to be weak. This, and they are overpriced. There are definitely better engine options out there, but it'll do if you're buying a truck and that's what it's got. At some point, when it comes time to re-pinch or something breaks, you might consider switching it out for a Dynamite .19 or O.S. .21tm.

The 3.3s are fine imho but they have been known to have weak conrods for decades, or at least as long as I've been in the hobby anyway. Dynamite, LRP, O.S., and SH engines all have good offerings in more of the budget price ranges. Id look at one of those personally.
